Yeah, I knew about Mrs. Lovelace, of course. (One could even suspect my Dad knew about her. Tee-hee.) But when I found the coin picture, the caption was so perfect. And it was even free to use!
Sometimes I am soo lucky… *snigger*

I know a lot of people, even friends, that don’t care about the world around them, ignore politics, and don’t mind cringing when any system treats them like children. If they can do their ‘thing’ in peace, whether it be molding on the TV couch and calling it being social, playing video games, or knitting.
What are civil rights? Wikipedia has it as:
Examples of civil rights and liberties include the right to get redress if injured by another, the right to privacy, the right of peaceful protest, the right to a fair investigation and trial if suspected of a crime, and more generally-based constitutional rights such as the right to vote, the right to personal freedom, the right to freedom of movement and the right of equal protection.
This is valid for many countries, and the right to privacy is of utmost importance.
What are your civil liberties? Wikipedia has it as:
Civil liberties are freedoms that protect the individual from the government. Civil liberties set limits for government so that it cannot abuse its power and interfere with the lives of its citizens.
Common civil liberties include the rights of people freedom from religion, freedom of religion, and freedom of speech, and additionally, the right to due process, to a fair trial, to own property, and to privacy.
Why should you be protected from your government? I elected them, so they’re the good guys… right? Because when a crisis arises, strange laws can be passed that infringe on these liberties – quite simply, you are no longer a free individual.
